LOFT Review

Last week I ordered a few things from the LOFT during one of their friends and family sales.  I purchased the following items at 40% off:

Striped Linen Flutter Shell X-Small ($29.70)

Triangle Sheer Sweater Small ($35.70)
Striped V-Neck Tee Small ($11.70)

All for under $140, I think I made a pretty good haul.  I am pleased with the fit and the quality of the pieces for the price I paid.  I love stripes and blue which you can definitely tell judging by this order!  The triangles sweater is an attempt to add patterns other than stripes to my wardrobe.  The triangles are definitely a bold pattern for me but I like the airy pointelle fabric of this sweater.  This should be great as a transitional spring piece with a tank underneath.  I like the loose fit and breathable linen fabric of the flutter shell but I will probably have the flutter sleeves removed.  Details like that just make my arms and shoulders look bigger; plus I don't like the baby-doll look of it.  I haven't been a fan of deconstructed style jeans in the past but this year I wanted to give them a try.  And I am surprised by how much I like these jeans.  They do not look too ratty and the straight leg allows me to mimic the boyfriend jean look without looking baggy by cuffing the hems.  The Loft modern cut jeans are straight through the hip which also gives the look of skinny jeans in the hip area on my figure, which I prefer.  The sleeveless mixed media tee is very light and comfortable.  I like the drape of the fabric but I imagine the other lighter colors this tee was offered in have to be see-through (especially the panels on the shoulder/across the back) because even this darker blue color is slightly on the sheer side.  But the thin fabric will be good for the hot summer months.   The striped V-neck tee is another good basic.  The striped pouch is larger than I expected it to be but I like that it is large enough to be used as a clutch.  Of course I like the stripes and the leather-like pull on the pouch but I do wish it had a little more structure.  The bracelet set is not great quality and I would never have paid the $20 full price for them but they are still cute costume jewelry that is understated enough for my taste.  Overall, I am happy with my order and plan to keep everything.  I will get a lot of wear out of these pieces, so I think this order was a good deal!

The Loft is currently having a 40% off Friends and Family sale (sign up for Loft emails to get the 40% off code if not currently a subscriber).  It's been a while since I shopped at the Loft because a few months ago I moved to a town that didn't have one.  But these are a few items I'm considering purchasing online:

Ann Taylor LOFT Deals

Yesterday I scored a couple of good deals on some "perfect for spring" items from the LOFT.  I got this champagne colored Floral Print Sheath dress and multicolored Abstract Floral Print Pencil Skirt.

And get this, I only paid $50.10 for both!  "How?!", you ask.  Well they were both on the sale racks and there was 40% off sale items plus I used my $20 Loft Rewards I recently earned! The dress was orignally $79.50 and the skirt $69.50, so I saved $100 bucks - oh happy day!  I recommend going in-store for good sale deals because the sale price in-store seems to always be cheaper than the one's online.  The online sale prices are $70 for the dress and $65 for the skirt.  My sale price tags were $60 for the dress and $50 for the skirt.  However, the advantage to ordering on-line is that there is usually a wider selection in size availability than in-store (at least in my experience).

I also wanted to note that I got both items in the petite sizes (size 4P) even though I'm not petite (5'5") because the regular sizing hemline fell too far below my knees. I felt like a mean, matronly school teacher - even in these bright pretty patterns.  Here's a few fitting room shots with the petite sizes on:

The petite sizes fell at or just above my knees, and they passed the bend-over and sit-down test.

I think both of these are so pretty and will be perfect for spring.  The colors of the pencil skirt are kind of on the bold side for me (I normally live in neutrals) but its so pretty and it was such a good deal I couldn't resist.  I have a peachy-pink sateen tank that I think will go well with it.

I think the sheath dress will be perfect for church or a wedding.  One of the stock photos on Loft's website show it with a brown belt at the waist, I may try that.  The belt gives more definition to the waist.

Thanks for stopping by!

Ann Taylor LOFT 40% OFF SALE

Ann Taylor LOFT is currently having a 40% off sale promotion (sale code ENTIRE) which includes new spring arrivals!  Free shipping is available for online orders over $125.

These are the items I ordered online; including my size, color, & total discounted sale price:

Abstract Print Shell:  Bright Gold, $29.70, x-small

I love the soft pastel, abstract pattern of this shell but I'm not sure how flattering this top is going to be on me.  LOFT's tops tend to fit a little big on me (sometimes even in x-small) and the flare at the bottom of this one has me a little skeptical.  But I guess I can always return it for something else!  The color is listed as "Bright Gold" but there is no other color currently available.

Back Zip Sweater Top:  Heather Warm Neutral, $23.70, small

(back zip detail)

Long Sleeve Crew Neck Cardigan:  Black, $23.70, small

I got the "classic, goes-with-everything" black color in this cardigan but I also wanted the "Steel Grey" color along with the abstract floral top shown with it (below) but the top was not listed for sale online.  I'm not sure if the top is from a previous season or if it will be available in the future; hopefully so!  I really like this combination.

Crew Neck Cardigan in Steel Grey with mystery top?

Petite Marisa Emerald Wash Jeans:  $35.70, size 26 (or size 2P)

and last but certainly not least...

Carlin Spring Flat:  Natural, $35.70, size 9 (I've got big feet, lol!)

Love the details on the cap toe!

These lovely flats are made of embossed leather and include a metallic cap toe and bow detail that I am loving!  I've been searching for an inexpensive flat of this style for a while and at under $36 bucks, I could not resist.  I can hardly wait to get these!  The "natural" color is the only one currently offered but I hope LOFT makes these flats available in other colors in the future.

There were other items that I wanted but I didn't want to get too carried away spending!  I decided to exercise some patience and wait until some things go into the markdown sale section.  Until next time...

Happy Shopping!

Ann Taylor Loft - Abstract Print Blouse with Tie

I recently purchased this Ann Taylor Loft Abstract Print Blouse on sale (size medium in Petites, $24 in-store).  On the website, the color is listed as "Tango Red" but I have never seen it offered in any other color.

I bought this blouse in a Petite size because Loft's tops generally fit longer than I like (I'm 5'5").  An XXSmall Petite size of this blouse can be seen here on PetiteXXS who is 5'0".  It is a brightly colored blouse but I think it looks nice with dark blue denim jeans.

Thanks to a set posted by din-din on Polyvore (link here), I was inspired to come up with an outfit pairing the blouse with black skinny jeans and a black blazer.

Big thanks to din-din because, although I liked the top, I wasn't really sure how I would wear it! I don't normally wear bright/bold prints but I like this given that the rest of the outfit is simply, monochromatic black.  Plus, the blazer will cover most of the blouse so only the front will peek out (minimizing how vibrant/bright the blouse really is).  However, I'm not quite sure if I like the idea of wearing a belt around a blazer or not. Any opinions?

LOFT Sale Finds

I live in Florida, so it doesn't get all that cold here in my neck of the woods.  But I went shopping for some new light-weight jackets in preparation for the cooler weather and I picked up some goodies from a recent 40% off sale at Ann Taylor Loft. The 3 jackets from LOFT (pictured below) are ones that I drooled over when I first saw them in-store & online but I practiced some self-restraint and patiently waited for them to be discounted and with the extra 40% off sale, I was able to get all 3 for only $60 (would have been $220 at the orginal price)!!! Happy Dance!!!
